Q. I am 66 and was recently diagnosed with moderate atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Is it okay to have an occasional cigar if I smoke outdoors and never intentionally inhale?
Any amount of smoking can be harmful, even if you choose not to inhale. We recommend complete abstinence from smoking for everyone, and it’s particularly important for individuals with known ASCVD. This means no cigars, cigarettes, pipes or e-cigarettes.
