Heart attacks were once thought to be a manís problem. But today, heart disease is the number one cause of death in women. As rates of smoking, diabetes and obesity have grown, more and more women are suffering heart attacks. And in contrast to men, a womanís first heart attack is often fatal. But that is changing. Although the likelihood a woman will have a heart attack continues to climb, the likelihood she will survive it is improving. A study reported in the Archives of Internal Medicine arrived at this finding after examining data from two national surveys.
