Further Sudden Cardiac Arrest Study Needed

Women who suffer sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) are much less likely than men to have demonstrated the type of left ventricular dysfunction that typically precedes the often-fatal event. In a study published in the Nov. 24 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, researchers found that while 36 percent of men who died of SCA had severe left ventricular dysfunction, only 21 percent of women did.
