When the heart stops due to an electrical malfunction, its called a cardiac arrest. Its different than when a blood clot blocks blood flow through an artery, which is a heart attack. However, a heart attack can damage the heart and cause cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest is more deadly in women than men. Even when the heart can be shocked back to life, they receive less aggressive treatment than men.
