In many ways, physical activity is the fountain of youth. Exercise benefits the heart, lungs, vascular system, blood pressure, blood lipids, blood sugar levels, muscles, bones, weight and mental health. Physically active adults ages 60 and older have a 24% to 40% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease than their peers who don’t exercise. They also age more slowly, are more likely to retain their cognitive abilities and enjoy a better quality of life.
