Q. My doctor has scheduled me for a hsCRP test. What is this for?

A

C-reactive protein (CRP) is produced by the liver in response to inflammation and is associated with increased risk of heart attack and stroke. A high-sensitivity CRP (hsCRP) test can identify very low levels of CRP in the blood.
