Q  When should you have a baseline cardiac exam? Heart disease runs in our family. Should our son be seen before he goes to college? He doesn’t think it’s necessary.

It’s our opinion that all adults should have a baseline cardiac evaluation. It is particularly important for anyone with symptoms that might be attributed to heart disease (such as shortness of breath) or with a family history of cardiovascular disease or its risk factors.
