If you have celiac disease, you are twice as likely to have coronary artery disease (CAD) as people who dont have celiac disease, Cleveland Clinic researchers discovered.Our study suggests that celiac disease is a risk factor for CAD at any age and should be considered on par with traditional risk factors, such as hypertension and diabetes, says Cleveland Clinic hospital medicine physician Deepak Pattanshetty, MD.
