The blood fats triglycerides may be much less understood than LDL ("bad") cholesterol and HDL ("good") cholesterol, but recent research points to a serious concern: High concentrations of triglycerides are common (about one-third of all Americans have high levels), yet the condition is vastly undertreated, according to a study published in the March 23 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine. High triglycerides can cause pancreatic inflammation, metabolic syndrome, and heart disease, but there are steps you can take to control them.
