Q. I know that insufficient sleep is a cardiovascular risk factor. I have trouble getting enough sleep during the week and try to make it up on the weekends. Is this doing me any good?”

A

In short, yes. While it isn’t nearly as good as being consistent with your sleep every night, the idea that you can’t make up sleep deprivation is only partially true. You do get a benefit from those sleep-intense weekends.
