Some Women Are Undertreated, But the Gender Gap is Closing

Males still tend to get earlier diagnoses of heart problems; awareness of symptom differences can help females catch up.

She had a heart attack in 1987 and needed angioplasty as much as the man next to her in the same emergency room. But she was only half as likely to undergo the procedure to open up a blocked coronary artery with a balloon-tipped catheter and restore the flow to her heart muscle.
