Taking care of your heart by controlling high blood pressure may pay a dividend in protecting your mind and memory, recent research suggests. Even in the absence of a stroke, hypertension damages the brain, according to Barbara Messinger-Rapport, M.D., Ph.D., a geriatrician in the Section of Geriatric Medicine at The Cleveland Clinic.
