Aerobic Exercise and Weight Training Best for Those at Risk of Heart Disease
Research shows a combination workout plan is especially helpful if youíre overweight.
If youíre at risk for heart disease or diabetes, youíre better off with an exercise regimen that includes both aerobic activity and weight training. Thatís according to a study published in the July 7 online issue of the American Journal of Cardiology (AJC). Researchers found that overweight patients at risk of heart disease and/or diabetes saw a significant reduction in their weight, waistline and diastolic blood pressure when they participated in a program of weight training three days a week and two hours of aerobics exercise per week.
