Heart Association dietary recommendations also put lifestyle on the table.

Being older has at least a couple of big advantages — and a couple of challenges — according to new dietary guidelines from the American Heart Association (AHA).

One advantage is that if you’re an "older adult" (undefined in the guidelines, but you know who you are), you’re a promising candidate for improved health. "Ample evidence" from clinical studies hints that you may find it easier to make and sustain heart-healthy diet and lifestyle changes, "perhaps more so than younger adults," the guidelines say.
