My cardiologist said that I really need to start exercising. I really cant, though, because I have a bad back. What do you recommend? Any exercise recommendation would depend on how bad your back is and why. In general, stretching exercises can improve flexibility and can help prevent further back problems and pain, as long as these exercises are done carefully and regularly. People with back problems can often tolerate low-impact exercises such as walking and swimming. A hand cycle is a way of exercising your upper body, at least, and getting your heart rate up.
